A relaxed three-day plan for Marrakech that balances the big sights with time to breathe.

Three days is the sweet spot for Marrakech. This plan mixes guided discovery, free time and one escape from the city.

Day 1 — The medina

  • Morning: guided walk — Koutoubia, the souks, Ben Youssef Madrasa.
  • Afternoon: rest at your riad; mint tea on the roof terrace.
  • Evening: Jemaa el-Fna at sunset, then dinner.

Day 2 — Palaces, gardens and a hammam

  • Morning: Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs.
  • Midday: lunch in the Mellah (the historic Jewish quarter) or the kasbah.
  • Afternoon: Jardin Majorelle, then a hammam.

Day 3 — Mountains or desert

  • Option A: the Atlas Mountains, with a village walk and lunch with a Berber family.
  • Option B: a cooking class in the morning, then sunset and dinner in the Agafay Desert.

Adding a fourth day?

Take a day trip to Essaouira, or start with a sunrise balloon flight.
